The website https://dziuk.org/ is owned and operated by dZi Foundation UK (us” or “we”). We are a charity registered in England and Wales with charity number 1151414, and a company registered in England and Wales with company number 08300450. Our registered office is 89 Park Avenue South, London N8 8LX.
The dZi Foundation works in partnership with remote communities in Nepal to create lasting improvements in their quality of life.
Our approach to privacy:
We take your right to privacy very seriously and respect any personal information you share with us and endeavour to keep it safe, whatever your relationship is with us.
Importantly we want you to know that we will not sell or rent your data to third parties.
By using our website or providing us with any personal information, including sensitive information (such as information about your health) you agree to your personal information being used and stored in the manner set out in this policy.
We may update this policy from time to time without notice to you, so please check it regularly.
How we collect information from you
There are a number of ways you might share your information with us including;
(a) our use of cookie;
(b) when you make a donation to dZi UK;
(c) if you volunteer for dZi UK;
(d) if you take part in a challenge event or otherwise fundraise on our behalf;
(e) if you purchase a ticket for an event hosted by dZi UK;
(f) if you apply for funding from us; or
(g) if you contact us with enquiries, correspond with us (including corresponding with us on behalf of a business) or become involved with us in another way (including via social media such as Twitter or Facebook).
Information we might receive from other sources
Your information may be shared with us by third party organisations, for example fundraising sites, like Virgin Money Giving and Just Giving. They will do so based on their own policies on data protection and privacy.
On occasion, we may also collect information (such as your telephone number and address) from the public domain, either directly or from third parties.
What type of information we might collect and process about you
The personal information we might collect includes;
(a) your name, address, email address and other contact information (including details of your social media accounts/profiles)
(b) information you enter onto our website
(c) records of your correspondence with us, if you have contacted us
(d) information about your employment (for example if you are a workplace giver)
(e) details of your contact with us, including its frequency
(f) financial information
(g) details of your visit to the site including your IP address
Except where permitted by law, we will never collect sensitive personal data about you without your consent.
How we use your information

(b) to administer your donation or support your fundraising, including processing Gift Aid
(c) to provide you with information about us and our fundraising campaigns, our services, our member benefits and any other information, products or services that we provide or provide access to

(e) for our internal administrative purposes, including to administer any funding applications received

We will only contact you via SMS and email where you have specifically given us consent to do so. For the purposes of sending marketing through the post and making marketing phone calls we may do so under something called legitimate interest and where our legitimate interest does not outweigh your rights and freedoms. In the instances you receive these calls and mailings you will be given the opportunity to opt out of this activity and you can also opt out of this at any time by contacting us using the details below.

This helps us understand the background of the people who support us and helps us to make appropriate requests for gifts to supporters who may be willing and able to give more than they already do and/or leave us a gift in their will.

You can withdraw your consent at any time. If, at any time you do not wish to receive further information about us and our services (including fundraising materials), or you wish to change your contact details or preferences, please let us know by contacting us using the details below.
If you request to receive no further contact from us, we will keep some basic information in order to avoid sending you unwanted materials in the future, and to ensure that we do not accidentally store details for the same person multiple times.
Also, it is worth noting that if you opt out and then later opt back in your most recent instruction will take precedence.

(b) update or amend the information we hold about you if it is wrong;

Where your data is held
All information you provide to us is stored securely and treated with care and respect. Any payment transactions will be encrypted using SSL technology.
The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) including the United States of America and Nepal. It may also be processed by persons operating outside the EEA. If we do send your personal data outside the EEA we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient implements appropriate measures to protect your information. By submitting your details you agree to this transfer.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

Who has access to your data
As mentioned previously – we won’t sell or rent your data to third parties for them to use for their own purposes.
Our staff and consultants may have access to your data and sometimes we may pass your data to third parties when they are working on our behalf. For example, when we send out mailings we need to send names and address to the printers so they can print the mailing and post them out. However, we will only provide those companies with the information they need to deliver the relevant service, and we make sure that your data is treated with the same level of care as if we were handling it directly.
We may disclose your personal information to third parties if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply any agreements, or to protect the rights, property or safety of dZi Foundation UK or others.
